7/13/2017 Houston’s District 7 has a contender
Houston’s congressional district 7 which currently is represented by John Culberson for the last 17 years In the United States of Representatives. Has a legitimate challenger to his congressional seat . David Balaton a native Houstonian ,and health care executive has been working for several months now. In order to get his name out to voters for the March 6, 2018 primary election.
I spoke briefly David Balat at his meet and greet at El Tiempo Restaurant on South Gessner. David , said he was given the American dream by his parents who I migrated to the United States from Israel. His parents had the entrepreneurial spirit and had their own business for many years. He hopes he can pass the opportunities he was privileged to have on to his two kids and all Americans. This is the reason he decided to leave the private sector and run for political office.
Term limits:
He adamantly believes our representatives should be there for limited term and not a career. He has already announced self-imposed term limits if he is elected. He certainly hopes Congress will pass term limits, but understands the political fight on such an issue.
Health care:
David believes Obama care must be fully repealed in order to lower the cost. Bail out will not drive the cost of health care down. For example the auto industry was bailed out and the price of cars did not decrease. Today, the US Senate passed a bill that will not lower the cost of health care. In addition, he agrees the VA hospital system is a disgrace to hose you served our country.
This was my first meeting with David Balat, and look forward to seeing him in the future. We certainly appreciate the courage, and sacrifice David Balat exemplifies by running for political office. I was impressed with David overall as a candidate. He understands the issues at hand that are facing our country, and Thought he had passion to really serve his county in meaningful way. Though his years of experience in the private sector may bring some fiscal business practices to a corrupt Washington DC. Definitely please look David up before going to vote.
For those in district 7 who want more information, or to help and contribute. Please visit his website www.davidbalat.com.
Remember to get involved in your communities. Please register to vote, and vote on every election day.

6/8/2017- James Comey testifies before US Senate Committee.

Today, Former DIrector James COmey testified in front of US Senate’s Intelligence Committee. I know the name of the committee is certainly a paradox .

Read below and you decide for yourself.

As always get involved in your community, city , state and counties politics.

Statement for the Record:
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
James B. Comey
June 8, 2017
Chairman Burr, Ranking Member Warner, Members of the Committee.
Thank you for inviting me to appear before you today. I was asked to testify today
to describe for you my interactions with President-Elect and President Trump on
subjects that I understand are of interest to you. I have not included every detail
from my conversations with the President, but, to the best of my recollection, I
have tried to include information that may be relevant to the Committee.
January 6 Briefing
I first met then-President-Elect Trump on Friday, January 6 in a conference
room at Trump Tower in New York. I was there with other Intelligence
Community (IC) leaders to brief him and his new national security team on the
findings of an IC assessment concerning Russian efforts to interfere in the
election. At the conclusion of that briefing, I remained alone with the President-
Elect to brief him on some personally sensitive aspects of the information
assembled during the assessment.
The IC leadership thought it important, for a variety of reasons, to alert the
incoming President to the existence of this material, even though it was salacious
and unverified. Among those reasons were: (1) we knew the media was about to
publicly report the material and we believed the IC should not keep knowledge of
the material and its imminent release from the President-Elect; and (2) to the
extent there was some effort to compromise an incoming President, we could blunt
any such effort with a defensive briefing.
The Director of National Intelligence asked that I personally do this portion
of the briefing because I was staying in my position and because the material
implicated the FBI’s counter-intelligence responsibilities. We also agreed I would
do it alone to minimize potential embarrassment to the President-Elect. Although
we agreed it made sense for me to do the briefing, the FBI’s leadership and I were
concerned that the briefing might create a situation where a new President came
into office uncertain about whether the FBI was conducting a counter-intelligence
investigation of his personal conduct.
It is important to understand that FBI counter-intelligence investigations are
different than the more-commonly known criminal investigative work. The
Bureau’s goal in a counter-intelligence investigation is to understand the technical
and human methods that hostile foreign powers are using to influence the United
States or to steal our secrets. The FBI uses that understanding to disrupt those
efforts. Sometimes disruption takes the form of alerting a person who is targeted
for recruitment or influence by the foreign power. Sometimes it involves
hardening a computer system that is being attacked. Sometimes it involves
“turning” the recruited person into a double-agent, or publicly calling out the
behavior with sanctions or expulsions of embassy-based intelligence officers. On
occasion, criminal prosecution is used to disrupt intelligence activities.
Because the nature of the hostile foreign nation is well known, counterintelligence
investigations tend to be centered on individuals the FBI suspects to
be witting or unwitting agents of that foreign power. When the FBI develops
reason to believe an American has been targeted for recruitment by a foreign
power or is covertly acting as an agent of the foreign power, the FBI will “open an
investigation” on that American and use legal authorities to try to learn more about
the nature of any relationship with the foreign power so it can be disrupted.
In that context, prior to the January 6 meeting, I discussed with the FBI’s
leadership team whether I should be prepared to assure President-Elect Trump that
we were not investigating him personally. That was true; we did not have an open
counter-intelligence case on him. We agreed I should do so if circumstances
warranted. During our one-on-one meeting at Trump Tower, based on President-
Elect Trump’s reaction to the briefing and without him directly asking the
question, I offered that assurance.
I felt compelled to document my first conversation with the President-Elect
in a memo. To ensure accuracy, I began to type it on a laptop in an FBI vehicle
outside Trump Tower the moment I walked out of the meeting. Creating written
records immediately after one-on-one conversations with Mr. Trump was my
practice from that point forward. This had not been my practice in the past. I
spoke alone with President Obama twice in person (and never on the phone) –
once in 2015 to discuss law enforcement policy issues and a second time, briefly,
for him to say goodbye in late 2016. In neither of those circumstances did I
memorialize the discussions. I can recall nine one-on-one conversations with
President Trump in four months – three in person and six on the phone.
January 27 Dinner
The President and I had dinner on Friday, January 27 at 6:30 pm in the
Green Room at the White House. He had called me at lunchtime that day and
invited me to dinner that night, saying he was going to invite my whole family, but
decided to have just me this time, with the whole family coming the next time. It
was unclear from the conversation who else would be at the dinner, although I
assumed there would be others.
It turned out to be just the two of us, seated at a small oval table in the
center of the Green Room. Two Navy stewards waited on us, only entering the
room to serve food and drinks.
The President began by asking me whether I wanted to stay on as FBI
Director, which I found strange because he had already told me twice in earlier
conversations that he hoped I would stay, and I had assured him that I intended to.
He said that lots of people wanted my job and, given the abuse I had taken during
the previous year, he would understand if I wanted to walk away.
My instincts told me that the one-on-one setting, and the pretense that this
was our first discussion about my position, meant the dinner was, at least in part,
an effort to have me ask for my job and create some sort of patronage relationship.
That concerned me greatly, given the FBI’s traditionally independent status in the
executive branch.
I replied that I loved my work and intended to stay and serve out my tenyear
term as Director. And then, because the set-up made me uneasy, I added that
I was not “reliable” in the way politicians use that word, but he could always count
on me to tell him the truth. I added that I was not on anybody’s side politically
and could not be counted on in the traditional political sense, a stance I said was in
his best interest as the President.
A few moments later, the President said, “I need loyalty, I expect loyalty.”
I didn’t move, speak, or change my facial expression in any way during the
awkward silence that followed. We simply looked at each other in silence. The
conversation then moved on, but he returned to the subject near the end of our
At one point, I explained why it was so important that the FBI and the
Department of Justice be independent of the White House. I said it was a paradox:
Throughout history, some Presidents have decided that because “problems” come
from Justice, they should try to hold the Department close. But blurring those
boundaries ultimately makes the problems worse by undermining public trust in
the institutions and their work.
Near the end of our dinner, the President returned to the subject of my job,
saying he was very glad I wanted to stay, adding that he had heard great things
about me from Jim Mattis, Jeff Sessions, and many others. He then said, “I need
loyalty.” I replied, “You will always get honesty from me.” He paused and then
said, “That’s what I want, honest loyalty.” I paused, and then said, “You will get
that from me.” As I wrote in the memo I created immediately after the dinner, it is
possible we understood the phrase “honest loyalty” differently, but I decided it
wouldn’t be productive to push it further. The term – honest loyalty – had helped
end a very awkward conversation and my explanations had made clear what he
should expect.
During the dinner, the President returned to the salacious material I had
briefed him about on January 6, and, as he had done previously, expressed his
disgust for the allegations and strongly denied them. He said he was considering
ordering me to investigate the alleged incident to prove it didn’t happen. I replied
that he should give that careful thought because it might create a narrative that we
were investigating him personally, which we weren’t, and because it was very
difficult to prove a negative. He said he would think about it and asked me to
think about it.
As was my practice for conversations with President Trump, I wrote a
detailed memo about the dinner immediately afterwards and shared it with the
senior leadership team of the FBI.
February 14 Oval Office Meeting
On February 14, I went to the Oval Office for a scheduled counterterrorism
briefing of the President. He sat behind the desk and a group of us sat in
a semi-circle of about six chairs facing him on the other side of the desk. The
Vice President, Deputy Director of the CIA, Director of the National Counter-
Terrorism Center, Secretary of Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and I
were in the semi-circle of chairs. I was directly facing the President, sitting
between the Deputy CIA Director and the Director of NCTC. There were quite a
few others in the room, sitting behind us on couches and chairs.
The President signaled the end of the briefing by thanking the group and
telling them all that he wanted to speak to me alone. I stayed in my chair. As the
participants started to leave the Oval Office, the Attorney General lingered by my
chair, but the President thanked him and said he wanted to speak only with me.
The last person to leave was Jared Kushner, who also stood by my chair and
exchanged pleasantries with me. The President then excused him, saying he
wanted to speak with me.
When the door by the grandfather clock closed, and we were alone, the
President began by saying, “I want to talk about Mike Flynn.” Flynn had resigned
the previous day. The President began by saying Flynn hadn’t done anything
wrong in speaking with the Russians, but he had to let him go because he had
misled the Vice President. He added that he had other concerns about Flynn,
which he did not then specify.
The President then made a long series of comments about the problem with
leaks of classified information – a concern I shared and still share. After he had
spoken for a few minutes about leaks, Reince Priebus leaned in through the door
by the grandfather clock and I could see a group of people waiting behind him.
The President waved at him to close the door, saying he would be done shortly.
The door closed.
The President then returned to the topic of Mike Flynn, saying, “He is a
good guy and has been through a lot.” He repeated that Flynn hadn’t done
anything wrong on his calls with the Russians, but had misled the Vice President.
He then said, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn
go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” I replied only that “he is a good
guy.” (In fact, I had a positive experience dealing with Mike Flynn when he was a
colleague as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the beginning of my
term at FBI.) I did not say I would “let this go.”
The President returned briefly to the problem of leaks. I then got up and
left out the door by the grandfather clock, making my way through the large group
of people waiting there, including Mr. Priebus and the Vice President.
I immediately prepared an unclassified memo of the conversation about
Flynn and discussed the matter with FBI senior leadership. I had understood the
President to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection
with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in
December. I did not understand the President to be talking about the broader
investigation into Russia or possible links to his campaign. I could be wrong, but I
took him to be focusing on what had just happened with Flynn’s departure and the
controversy around his account of his phone calls. Regardless, it was very
concerning, given the FBI’s role as an independent investigative agency.
The FBI leadership team agreed with me that it was important not to infect
the investigative team with the President’s request, which we did not intend to
abide. We also concluded that, given that it was a one-on-one conversation, there
was nothing available to corroborate my account. We concluded it made little
sense to report it to Attorney General Sessions, who we expected would likely
recuse himself from involvement in Russia-related investigations. (He did so two
weeks later.) The Deputy Attorney General’s role was then filled in an acting
capacity by a United States Attorney, who would also not be long in the role.
After discussing the matter, we decided to keep it very closely held, resolving to
figure out what to do with it down the road as our investigation progressed. The
investigation moved ahead at full speed, with none of the investigative team
members – or the Department of Justice lawyers supporting them – aware of the
President’s request.
Shortly afterwards, I spoke with Attorney General Sessions in person to
pass along the President’s concerns about leaks. I took the opportunity to implore
the Attorney General to prevent any future direct communication between the
President and me. I told the AG that what had just happened – him being asked to
leave while the FBI Director, who reports to the AG, remained behind – was
inappropriate and should never happen. He did not reply. For the reasons
discussed above, I did not mention that the President broached the FBI’s potential
investigation of General Flynn.
March 30 Phone Call
On the morning of March 30, the President called me at the FBI. He
described the Russia investigation as “a cloud” that was impairing his ability to act
on behalf of the country. He said he had nothing to do with Russia, had not been
involved with hookers in Russia, and had always assumed he was being recorded
when in Russia. He asked what we could do to “lift the cloud.” I responded that
we were investigating the matter as quickly as we could, and that there would be
great benefit, if we didn’t find anything, to our having done the work well. He
agreed, but then re-emphasized the problems this was causing him.
Then the President asked why there had been a congressional hearing about
Russia the previous week – at which I had, as the Department of Justice directed,
confirmed the investigation into possible coordination between Russia and the
Trump campaign. I explained the demands from the leadership of both parties in
Congress for more information, and that Senator Grassley had even held up the
confirmation of the Deputy Attorney General until we briefed him in detail on the
investigation. I explained that we had briefed the leadership of Congress on
exactly which individuals we were investigating and that we had told those
Congressional leaders that we were not personally investigating President Trump.
I reminded him I had previously told him that. He repeatedly told me, “We need
to get that fact out.” (I did not tell the President that the FBI and the Department
of Justice had been reluctant to make public statements that we did not have an
open case on President Trump for a number of reasons, most importantly because
it would create a duty to correct, should that change.)
The President went on to say that if there were some “satellite” associates
of his who did something wrong, it would be good to find that out, but that he
hadn’t done anything wrong and hoped I would find a way to get it out that we
weren’t investigating him.
In an abrupt shift, he turned the conversation to FBI Deputy Director
Andrew McCabe, saying he hadn’t brought up “the McCabe thing” because I had
said McCabe was honorable, although McAuliffe was close to the Clintons and
had given him (I think he meant Deputy Director McCabe’s wife) campaign
money. Although I didn’t understand why the President was bringing this up, I
repeated that Mr. McCabe was an honorable person.
He finished by stressing “the cloud” that was interfering with his ability to
make deals for the country and said he hoped I could find a way to get out that he
wasn’t being investigated. I told him I would see what we could do, and that we
would do our investigative work well and as quickly as we could.
Immediately after that conversation, I called Acting Deputy Attorney
General Dana Boente (AG Sessions had by then recused himself on all Russiarelated
matters), to report the substance of the call from the President, and said I
would await his guidance. I did not hear back from him before the President
called me again two weeks later.
April 11 Phone Call
On the morning of April 11, the President called me and asked what I had
done about his request that I “get out” that he is not personally under investigation.
I replied that I had passed his request to the Acting Deputy Attorney General, but I
had not heard back. He replied that “the cloud” was getting in the way of his
ability to do his job. He said that perhaps he would have his people reach out to
the Acting Deputy Attorney General. I said that was the way his request should be
handled. I said the White House Counsel should contact the leadership of DOJ to
make the request, which was the traditional channel.
He said he would do that and added, “Because I have been very loyal to
you, very loyal; we had that thing you know.” I did not reply or ask him what he
meant by “that thing.” I said only that the way to handle it was to have the White
House Counsel call the Acting Deputy Attorney General. He said that was what
he would do and the call ended.
That was the last time I spoke with President Trump.

1/30/2017 Immigration hypocrisy

As newly inaugurated President Trump puts to action many of his campaign promises rapidly. The critics

are out blasting President Trump as a racist home wrecker. When it comes to his immigration stance.

With his signing of executive orders to build a wall along sections of the US Mexican border, and his

temporary stopping of immigrants from 7 Muslim majority countries. ( Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen).

What this executive order will do is stop refuges form entering into the USA , along with stopping any

new immigrants from the above 7 countries for up to 120 days. This order does not affect any US

citizens, or those with legal citizenship here in the USA.

Overall, according to the Department of Homeland Security data in 2014 just over 1 million green cards

where issued. Of those million only 29,000 where form Iran and Iraq. If that data is correct then it would

suggest the main stream media is over blowing the significance of this temporary ban,

We will have to keep a careful eye on what happens in the next 30 to 90 days. See what congress and

President Trump will decide.

How come when President Clinton in 1995 talked about tough immigration everyone applauded?

How come in January 2017 under President Obama no one protested the ending of Wet Foot Dry foot program? The Wet Foo Dry Foot program allowed those migrating to the USA from Cuba to stay in the USA without visas.

9/9/2016 Misconceptions

There are many false rumors going around especially on social media, Facebook and Twitter

about the cost to tax payers of new taxi App in Houston. Guess what? I know you will be

surprised about the accuracy of things on social media, but none of them are true.

Recently, the City of Houston announced a new App that would allow Houstonians and

visitors to get access to taxi and Limo services in Houston. Similar to Uber. Without costing the

tax payers any money. Unbelievable I know right.

Advocatecitzen.com. Reached out the City of Houston to fully investigate and get answers

about this App and the cost. Read the transcript below to our interview with Lara

Cottingham the Deputy Assistant Director at City of Houston, Administration & Regulatory Affairs Department.

A few lessons learned from this investigation. First never, believe what you read on

social media, and the internet. More importantly due some investigation before you

perpetuate false rumors. As always get involved in your communities, and please vote each and every election.

AC= Advocatecitizen.com. Question
LC= Lara Cottingham’s answer.

AC. The vendor who provides the app getting paid from any tax dollars?

LC.–I’m not sure what you are asking. No tax dollars will be spent on
this app.

AC .If yes, how much?

Is the city getting any revenue from the app?

LC.-No. The primary intent of this app is to improve customer service,

not to generate revenue, since the City already receives annual permit

fees from all vehicles using the app.

AC.If no who pay the vendor of the app?

-LC.-Driver and customer fees will cover the cost of the app.

AC.The cost to the taxi drivers where does that money go?

LC.-The driver will pay less than $1.00 per trip along with credit card

processing fee of less than 3%. The passenger pays a small booking fee

of less than $2 per trip. Drivers only pay for trips they take. The

app only makes money if drivers make money.

Both fees go to the vendor to cover the maintenance of the app.

AC. Why does the City Of Houston need to get involved with private

LC. The City will not own or operate this app. We issued an RFQ to find

a digital platform that would promote a single, easy-to-use point of

contact for all taxicabs and limousines in the City in the interest of

promoting additional transportation options for Houstonians and

visitors alike. The City of Houston has almost 9,000 taxi and limo

drivers, yet fewer than half of those drivers have access to any form
of dispatch. As a result, these vehicles are often functionally

unavailable to the general public. As the fourth, soon to be third,

largest city in the U.S. we believe these services should be readily

available to anyone in the city who is seeking transportation, not

just at airports, hotels and downtown cab stands.

Drivers have asked the City to provide dispatch service for decades,

but until recently, this would have required the city creating and

staffing a dispatch call center. Technology available today allows the

City to provide city-wide dispatch service to the industry at no cost

to the City or the tax payer.

7/12/2016 No Partisanship
The US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee held hearings on oversight of the Department of Justice today. In the witness chair was Attorney General Loretta Lynch she discussed Hilary Clinton’s emails. It is quite evident that republicans have their arguments against the Hilary Clinton email situation, and the democrats have diverted the subject to guns and violence.
Examples: See on the timer 7:37 Rep John Conyers ( D ) MI
44:07 , 557:28 and, 1:09.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) gave the following statement. Showing he was dissatisfied with answers from Attorney General Lynch
“It’s clear that, a little over an hour into today’s hearing, Attorney General Lynch has no intention of answering any of our questions regarding the Department’s decision not to charge former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, even the most basic questions about the legal elements the government is obligated to prove in a criminal prosecution. Instead of providing the Judiciary Committee with the candor provided to Congress last Thursday by FBI Director Comey, Attorney General Lynch instead is dodging any responsibility to be forthright to Congress by referring members to the statements of her subordinate. If Attorney General Lynch doesn’t want to answer questions about the investigation, then she should have appointed a special prosecutor at the start of the investigation. Instead, she never even sought to recuse herself, despite the fact that Secretary Clinton is the wife of her former boss, President Bill Clinton. It’s equally troubling that she met privately with former President Clinton just days before FBI Director Comey announced that he does not recommend criminal charges be filed against Secretary Clinton. The American people deserve transparency about this investigation.”

6/5/2016 Our 2ND Amendment

Here is what presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says about the 2nd amendment.

3/9/2016   The GOP Race to the Nomination

With 19 primaries and caucuses completed for the republican presidential candidates it seems

to be a two man race for the nomination. Front runner Donald Trump leads Texas Senator Ted

Cruz by close too a 100 delegates. Donald trump has 458 , and Ted Cruz 359. Rounding out the

group Senator Marco Rubio has 151 delegates, and  Ohio Governor John Kasich has 54

Let us take a moment to explain the republican nomination process so you will fully understand

how the candidate is nominated.

The candidate is nominated thought the primary and caucus system held by each state. Each

states delegate count is based on 10 plus the number of congressional district.  Texas for

example ,is very large state with 155 delegates.  Versus a small state of New Hampshire that only has 23 delegates.

The candidate that gets to 1,237 delegates will be the Republican Party nominee.

Tuesday March 15 is another Super Tuesday with Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, and North

Carolina all will have their primaries.

What makes the March 15th primaries more enticing is that these states will not share the

delegates amongst the candidates.. It is a winner take all.  With 358 delegates at stake look for

heavy advertising dollars being spent in the above five states for votes.

Will Donald Trump do as the current polls show and win big, or will Senator Ted Cruz surprise

some people and win enough to keep Donald trump from dominating the race?  Can dark horse

candidate Marco Rubio win his home state of Florida?

This is why we will be watching on March 15th.

We will discuss the candidates in a separate article.

As always make sure to get out and vote in your state.

According to the Mayor Turners office calls to the 311 help line have increased by more than 1000%.
The city has certainly responded quickly with a 90% complete rate within 24 hours.
The city has filled more than 902 potholes in a two week period !
Street repairs that require more than just pothole fix- usually take 30 days to get scheduled.
They are placed on a priority report with a timeline. According to Janice Evans Mayor Turner’s Chief
Communications Director.
Advocatecitizen.com gives Mayor Turner an A+ for his immediate action on street repairs.
We hope he can continue to fix Houston’s infrastructure that so many Houstonians use every day.

12/11/2015   Houston We Have a Runoff

Tomorrow, Saturday December 12th is the big day to decide who will be the next mayor in the City be of Houston.

The runoff is between Sylvester Turner and Bill King who seem to have different perspectives on how to manage the city if elected as Mayor.

Advocate Citizen wants to explain some differences between the two on the issues of street repair and city pension plans. These two issues alone have the city in debt and, could potentially cripple the city if  not handled responsibly.

Sylvester Turner: Quote via email to Advocatecitizen :

The first thing I will tackle in office is our financial situation.

We have a number of serious problems but we can’t deal with them one

at a time.  We have to take a comprehensive look at all issues with

everyone at the table.  That includes pensions, debt, TIRZs and more.

Comprehensive financial reform will require us to work on all the

issues together.  One thing that will not be on the table is a tax

rate increase.

I favor keeping ReBuild Houston but making changes so that it works

better.  We need a revenue stream for street and flood work.

A stable pension system is an essential protection for the economic

health of the middle class. Public employees deserve the secure

retirements that were promised them; our city needs to fund essential

services; and taxpayers need to be protected.

I support local control – but to achieve it, we must put our local

house in order.  I have a 26-year track record of getting things done

in the Legislature and have occupied major positions under Democratic

and Republican leadership. I can tell you that state legislators don’t

want to be put in the position of settling local disputes. They just

throw up their hands and refuse to get involved.

That’s why any meaningful reforms in Austin will require all

stakeholders in Houston sitting at the table discussing the city’s

financial challenges now and into the future.

Beware of politicians selling easy answers – they often have

unintended consequences.  Any wholesale changes done without buy-in

from local stakeholders can put the safety of the city at risk.

Approximately 1,900 police officers are eligible to retire right now

– when the force has fewer officers than it did ten years ago –

and nearly 1,400 firefighters are eligible to retire right now. The

threat of losing so many officers and firefighters is not just

In Memphis, according to a _Wall Street Journal_ article this spring,

more than 250 police and firefighters quit after the city switched a

portion of its employees out of defined benefit plans into

401(k)-style accounts. And the city is having significant challenges

recruiting replacements.

My opponent suggests that we use pension bonds to reduce the unfunded

liability – a proposal that ignores our current debt situation.  He

also suggests switching the pension system to one more like a 401(k).

That may work for private companies but states that have done that

have found it costs the government more.

Bill King: Via email to Advocatecitizen from Nicholas Reed

Policy Director, Bill King for Mayor:

Mr. King has publicly stated that the City of Houston will need to
issue an infrastructure bond within the next couple of years to catch
up on needed street repairs and drainage improvements. We have the
debt capacity to do this without raising taxes.

The pensions can be funded 100% as long as the City starts moving soon
toward 401k-style defined contribution plans for all newly hired
employees. This will improve the long-term debt-to-revenue ratio so
substantially that it will be a relatively simple matter to fund the
remaining obligations to employees and retirees under the old plans.
This way, everyone who has worked in expectation of benefits can rest
assured that they will be paid what they were promised.

Please make sure to get out to vote .

10/30/2015 Are you serious Senator McConnell and John Boehner

Early morning vote at 1 Am in the US Senate passed the president’s budget deal with a vote of 63 to 35.

It was the budget deal negotiated with President Obama John Boehner and US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that will go down in history as the largest debt increase.  The plan eliminates the discretionary spending caps form the 2011 Budget Control Act of 2011. By eliminating any fiscal discipline and increasing spending by $80 billion. It will give a blank check to President Obama with no deficit spending limits until 2017.  In addition, it robs Social Security trust fund of approximately $150 billion dollars over the next three years. It transfer that money to the near bankrupt Disability Insurance Trust Fund.  This supposedly will keep the disability fund solvent until 2022. This is certainly not a responsible fix to Social Security. In fact it merely kicks the can down the road to another congress.

Earlier Speaker John Boehner was replaced by Paul Ryan as the new speaker of the house. However, let’s be honest and stop thanking Speaker Boehner for his service. Instead we should be asking or saying thanks for leaving us with more debt. Advocate Citizen did contact Senator Mitch McConnell’s and Speaker John Boehner’s office but no comment has been given.

Senator Ted Cruz (Republican from TX) eloquently, pointed out on the US Senate floor prior to the vote several important things for all of us to understand what is going on in Washington DC. He showed with several examples listed below how US Senator Mitch McConnell since becoming the Senate Majority leader has backed president Obama’s polices time after time.  Failing to live up to his campaign promises to the American people. It was supposed to change once the republicans gained control of the house and senate.

  1. Renewing of the Export Import Bank.
  2. Nomination of liberal Supreme Court justice Loretta Lynch.
  3. Immigration reform. By failing to stop sanctuary cities, and failure to secure our borders.
  4. Why the 1 AM vote?

See Senator Cruz’s speech https://youtu.be/TOjMn87AbzA

Senator Rand Paul (Republican from KY) also opposed the budget deal.  “T,his deal represents the worst of the Washington culture. The Left and the Right have come together in an unholy alliance to explode the debt. The Left gets more welfare, the Right gets more military contracts, and the Taxpayer is stuck with the bill”!

“This deal gives the President the power to borrow unlimited amounts of money.”

Senator Paul has proposed deficit cutting with a balanced budget bill. He would cut, cap and balance the budget.  He wanted to bring to floor last night for a vote, but democrats blocked the vote, and insisted on voting on the budget agreed bill.

See Rand Paul’s speech:   https://youtu.be/HNsmztsbM8w

Ask yourself these questions as a taxpayer.  First, think what that means the word taxpayer for a moment. It means you work, and the government takes percentage of you pay to fund the govenrmnt. We as taxpayers are the only funding sauce of our government.

  1. Why do the elected officials on both sides oppose government balanced budget, and call it a ludicrous idea that would default our governments credit rating?
  2. Why vote at 1AM? This certainly does not show government transparency to us the taxpayers.
  3. Have our elected officials in DC become so arrogant to completely ignore our wishes and needs?
  4. What has happened to the sold called conservatives of the Republican Party? They continue to support liberal tax and spend ideas.
  5. Finally, and probably most importantly, what are we as the taxpayers, and voters going to do about it? Do you have the courage to stand up start grass root efforts to vote out all the fake conservatives in all levels of government?

Below is the list of the 63 US senators who voted for this budget deal.  2 Senators did not vote.

46 democrats, and 17 republicans voted yes.

Is Illegal  Immigration Expensive?

Some say 2016 presidential candidate Donald Trump was the impetus of the illegal immigration

discussion of many Americans. Regardless of your political beliefs, and who is running for

president we will put to rest some of the myths about illegal immigration that seem to be flourishing

among social media  conversations across our great country.

Since illegal immigration is an enormous subject to tackle this article is first of a few blogs on the

subject. The second blog on birthright citizenship will be coming in the near future.

First, we must make it crystal clear that illegal immigration is defined as a person or persons who have

entered the United States without permission. For the purpose of  this discussion we will set aside those who overstayed their visas and never return to their home country.

Although visa overstay is a significant part of illegal immigration we will save that for another discussion.

Illegal immigration is not something brand new to Americans in 2015. Modern day immigration

began in 1986 when President Ronald Reagan granted amnesty by signing into law the 1986 Immigration

Reform and Control Act. Under this act nearly 2.7 million illegals received green cards, and 1.1 million

become citizens within ten years. At the time this was the largest immigration reform in our countries history.

Let’s fast forward to our present day. We have encountered several amnesty attempts in

Congress over the last few years under republican and democratic leadership. President Obama though

executive action in 2014 granted protection from deportation to an estimated  5.1 million illegal immigrants.

How big is the illegal immigration problem currently in the United States? According to the non-partisan

Pew Research Center and FAIR In 2014 the illegal immigrant population was 11.3 million. Of

that population Mexico remains the largest country of origin with 52% of the illegal population.  Due their

proximity and bordering southwestern states. However, on a positive note for Mexico this

number is at a low compared to the boom years from 2000-2013, and Mexicans are not typically terrorist.

Many say illegal immigration does not cost taxpayers anything.

Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact in state of Texas alone the annual cost is

estimated to 8.9 billion dollars in 2010 and in 2013 estimated $12.1 billion dollars; the largest portion, nearly

70% is being spent on education.  This education is from kindergarten through 12th grade.

The second largest expenditure in Texas of illegal immigrants is healthcare which is 15.4% of the annual

cost. The rest of the cost is to public assistance, law enforcement, and general government services.

The cost to the USA of illegal immigration estimated to be $ 113 billion dollars annually. However, a

large portion roughly $84 billion is absorbed by local and state governments. A large portion of the

Illegal immigrant cost falls on the states of Arizona, California, Florida, New Mexico, New York,

and Texas, since those states have the largest illegal populations in the country.

Medical care on a national level certainly is an expensive part of it is illegal immigration. It is estimated

by a Rand study in 2006 1.1 billion of government funds are spent on  medical expenses for  illegals

under the age of 65.  The medical services are primarily received at free clinics and hospital

emergency rooms.

Education of illegals children is another costly expense to taxpayers. Let’s take a look at the numbers to

illustrate the expense. Educating children of illegals cost an estimated 2.1 billion per year, with about

half that being spent on the Title 1 program. Title 1 program came from the Elementary and Secondary

Education Act of 1965. In an effort to increase academic performance of the very poor.

Advocate Citizen is against illegal immigration for the main reason of finical burdens placed upon US tax

payers.  We hope our leaders of both parties will finally do what is right and enforce our laws.

Look for future articles on illegal immigration in the near future.

As always get involved and let us know your thoughts and opinions.

05/30/2015 Show down set for Sunday on government spying

More than 230 years ago one of America’s great minds, Benjamin Franklin, had it right even in today’s world on his thoughts about liberty, and freedom.

“Those who give up their liberty for more security neither deserve liberty nor security.”

Today, this is relevant because on Sunday May 31, 2015 the United States Senate will reconvene to debate and possibly a vote on the renewal of the Patriot Act. The controversial section 215 that allows government collection of mega data as seen in recent history with NSA spying case. Exposed by former NSA employee Edward Snowden. In May of 2015 Edward Snowden said it well on the issue of government monitoring of citizens.  “When you monitor everyone, you understand nothing”.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as of today is for a clean passage of the entire Patriot Act.  However, republican Rand Paul, according to his communication director Jillian Lane in an email to Advocate Citizen “Sen. Paul will oppose reauthorization and any short-term extension of the Patriot Act.” Remember Senator Paul led a US Senate filibuster for more than 10 hours against the renewal of the Patriot Act on May 20, 2015. We also reached out to Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, his office released the following statement “While we do not yet know specifically what the Senate will vote on this Sunday, Senator Corker believes we must ensure these programs are as robust as possible in order to keep the American people safe while still respecting the civil liberties we all cherish.”

It remains to be seen how the leadership of the US Senate will proceed on Sunday.

Will there be enough opposition on a bi partisan basis to defeat the renewal of section 215 as passed in the US House of Representatives, or will Leader McConnell continue to support the agenda of the extreme left wing supporting President Obama’s agenda? Will Senators Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, along with other conservative republicans do what is constitutionally right?

On Sunday we hope to see both parties act reasonably and do what is right for the American people.

Otherwise, our liberties will continue to erode.

05/20/2015   Keep Talking Senator Paul

Senator Rand Paul (KY) and presidential candidate began a filibuster shortly after 1PM today against the

renewal of section 216 of Patriot Act.  Section 216 allows the government the NSA to collect metadata phone data of US Citizens without probable cause.

Senator Paul had support in the filibuster from democrats and republicans.

Senator Paul stopped the filibuster at 1149AM EST.

Where is the Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, why will he defy the American people wishes again, and stop the collection of data by any government agency?

Contact your members of Congress let them know to stop NSA collection of data by not renewing the patriot Act section 215.

4/24/2015 Republicans Give in on AG Confirmation
With vote of 56 to 43 the Unites States Senate confirmed the Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch.
These 10 republicans broke party lines and voted for the confirmation of Loretta Lynch.
Senators: Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), Orrin Hatch (Utah), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Susan Collins (Maine), Jeff Flake
(Ariz.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Rob Portman (Ohio) Thad Cochran (Miss.), Ron Johnson (Wis.) and Mitch McConnell (Ky.) Senator Ted Cruz of Texas did not vote.
Now, on the surface it may appear as a close vote in the US Senate, and another loss for the
However, what happened before shows the inability of the republican leadership to bring conservative values to the American people as promised in the 2014 elections with control of the both chambers in The US Congress.
Prior to the confirmation vote there was what is called in US Senate terms a cloture vote.
Cloture meaning bring end to all debate, and if there are enough votes to bring to a vote, or with fewer than 60 votes kill the legislation. The cloture vote passed 63 to 43 with the Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell,(KY) and the Senate Whip Senator Cornyn (TX) voting yes. These are the republican leaders who negotiated with the democrats bring the Loretta Lynch nomination to a vote. In exchange for bringing the Human Trafficking bill without using federal funds for abortions. In case you are wondering this is why the republicans held the Attorney General nominee for more than five months.
To make the situation worse especially for constituents of Texas Senator John Cornyn, he then turned around and voted no in the confirmation vote. Why you ask, because most of us will not know when he says later he was against the president’s nomination he then has the vote to show us. Advocate Citizen via email contacted his communications director Megan Mitchell, who said Senator Cornyn has said he will vote against the Loretta Lynch nomination, and that human trafficking bill has afforded law enforcementsome critical tools. When we asked about the deal and senator Cornyn negations with the democrats no response was given.
Another example of key republicans bowing to the democrats on issues their constituents want them to stand firm.
As always please make sure you are registered to vote, and stay involved in your communities.
Ultimately, we are the eyes and ears  for watching our elected officials.

3/28/2015 Should States Drug Test Welfare Recipients?

It certainly is reasonable for the American tax payer to think those who are receiving any type of government assistance are not using, or abusing drugs or alcohol. However, in some state legislatures it seems to be a political battle over drug testing vs constitutional rights.

On one side of the argument, usually the conservative side, the argument is for drug testing in order to save money by cutting any assistance of to those individuals using drugs of any kind. In the other corner there are the democrats arguing it violates constitutional rights of the individual.

Let us back up a little and follow the progression of this drug testing argument.

In 1996 the federal government pass the Welfare Reform Act to credit of democratic President Bill Clinton. In which the states are allowed to drug test those individuals seeking any type of government assistance, such as TNAF SNAP, Medicaid. The Welfare Reform Act of 1996 brought welfare spendingdown from 3.4 % of GDP to 2.4% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) GDP is the total dollar of goods and services over a certain period of time. GDP represents the size of the economy.

The issue was stagnant in most states until 2003 The Michigan Appeals court in the case of Marchwinski v. Howard ruled that subjecting every welfare applicant in Michigan to a drug test without reason to believe that drugs are being is used was unconstitutional.

However, it was not until 2009 when more than 20 states proposed legislation that would require drug testing as a condition to receiving the any type of assistance, but it was not until 2011 when Arizona, Florida, and Missouri passed drug testing legislation.

In 2014 Michigan passed a suspicion based drug screening plan, and in Florida their law is on hold by a district judge, and later upheld by the Circuit Court t of Appeals.

Here in the Lone Star State of Texas, “bills have been purposed the last few sessions” according to State Representative Gary Elkins chief of staff Debra Clonts, “but have never made it through the legislative process”.

Now that you understand some of the history of the drug testing debate you can make an intelligent decision today as it pertains in your state. Just a few ideas Advocate Citizen believes are important to consider regardless of which side of the argument you fall.

  1. Does a welfare recipients have any obligation to the source of their assistance the tax payer?

  1. Under what restrictions is the assistance given? For example does the individual have to look for gainful employment, and be legitimately needing of the finical assistance as set out by state guidelines?

  1. Under what circumstances can the individual recipient be required to test or prove required obligations? For example, not suing drugs, actually searching for employment and not using the assistance illegally?

  1. Doesn’t the government state or federal have an obligation to the tax payers to protect their money, by screening and enforcing the assistance programs?

  1. With a national drug use rate of approximately 9.4% does the government have the right to anticipate drug use by welfare recipients?

  1. What is the most cost effective and best result orientated testing method?
  2. Do Welfare recipients surrender any rights during the time they are receiving government assistance?

There is hope. The 2016 elections are not that far away every member of the House of Representatives will be up for reelection. Make note of the Republic-rats voting with the president in your area, and vote against them. Clearly, another case of republicans bowing to the Democrats.

Makes me wonder why we still vote republican.

2/18/2015  Calling Senator Rubio where are you?

Florida hold on to your hats we have some bad news about your ‘star’  US Senator Marco Rubio.

According to Govtrack.us. From Jan 2011 to Feb 2015, Rubio missed 99 of 1,199 roll call votes, which is 8.3%. This is worse than the median of 1.7% among the lifetime records of senators currently serving.

Why so many absences Senator Rubio? Advocate Citizen contacted Senator Rubio’s spokesman Alex Conant via email had this response to our questions.

Regarding his voting record in past years: Senator Rubio takes his responsibilities as both a senator and a father seriously. The vast majority of missed votes are when the latter duties take precedent, and he needs to be in Miami for family commitments. He is one of the only senators with young children

He has not moved his family to D.C., and tries to spend as much time in Florida with them as possible. In addition to his parental responsibilities, in recent years he’s also had to return to Florida and miss votes due to his mother’s health and civic responsibilities like jury duty.

In all fairness to Senator Rubio  did attend one day to the Miami  jury pool in March 2014, but was not selected and dismissed.

When asked about Senator Rubio’s plans for 21015 in US Senate and a possible presidential run  Canant replied

It’s not unusual for presidential candidates to miss Senate votes. Senator Rubio has not made a final decision about 2016, but he’s seriously considering running for president and taking the necessary steps to prepare a competitive campaign. As he travels the country talking about his agenda to help the middle class, there will be no doubt where he stands on any important issues before the Senate.

Senator Rubio has some tough questions ahead of him as he decides if to run for president. However, since he took office one thing is clear he has not always acted as a conservative.

Floridians have many tough decisions to make prior to the 2016 elections; most importantly, if Marco Rubio should be elected to any office.

Listed below is the chart of his voting record since he took office in January 2011:

1/9/2015   The Terrible ‘T ‘ in Washington

With Congress opening its 114 session this week some republicans along with the democrats are already taking about the T word. Yes ,that’s right raising are taxes.

US Senators Chris Murphy Democrat from CT, and Bob Corker Republican from TN are

Proposing to raise the gasoline tax in the first time since 1993.

Currently, when you go to the pump according to API the average combined state and federal taxes is 49.28  cents per gallon.

The map below shows cost of gas tax per gallon by state.

Here is the USA Average for gasoline TAX per American Petroleum Institute:

US National Average      Gasoline                                                Diesel

State Excise Tax                20.50 ¢ per gallon                            19.07 ¢ per gallon

Other State Taxes/Fees  10.39 ¢ per gallon                         11.68 ¢ per gallon

Total State Taxes/Fees  30.88 ¢ per gallon                           30.75 ¢ per gallon

Total State and Federal Taxes     49.28 ¢ per gallon             55.15 ¢ per gallon

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. I thought I voted republican to stop this tax and spend mentality in Washington DC, so why are republicans’ supporting this?

2. Tax increase so early in the session that republican have just gained majority in both chambers of congress. Is this the republican platform tax and spend?

Advocate Citizen contacted US Senators Bob Corkers, and Senator Chris Murpphy ‘s offices for a response . No official response yet.

As always continue to get involved in your government and call your elected officials in Washington.

10/15/2014        Not so Fast- You need an ID

Justice was done in Texas . All Texas voters will need to bring some ID in order to vote this November 4th.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that Texas requires a voter ID for the November 4th election; it overturned the lower court’s ruling just a few days ago.

Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott released the following statement on the court ruling:

“We are pleased that the appeals court has unanimously agreed that Texas’ voter ID law should remain in effect for the upcoming election, which is the right choice in order to avoid voter confusion. The State will continue to defend the voter ID law and remains confident that the district court’s misguided ruling will be overturned on the merits. The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that voter ID laws are a legal and sensible way to protect the integrity of elections.”

Some will argue that requiring an id to vote discriminates against the poor, and some minorities. However the Texas Department of Public Safety will issue what is called  an (EIC) Election Identification Certificate  free of charge to those who do not have any ID. The EIC program began back in June of 2013 to ensure all those who want to vote will have the proper ID to vote. To date according to DPS they have issued 295 EIC cards and have had more than 1850 inquires about what ID is needed.

Here is what is needed to vote and qualify for the EIC card; From DPS Web site:

Most residents already have an acceptable form of photo identification needed for voting and will not need or qualify for an EIC. If an applicant already has any of the following documents, they are not eligible to receive an EIC:

Texas driver license – unexpired or expired no longer than 60 days at the time of voting

Texas personal identification card – unexpired or expired no longer than 60 days at the time of voting

U.S. passport book or card – unexpired or expired no longer than 60 days at the time of voting

Texas concealed handgun license – unexpired or expired no longer than 60 days at the time of voting

U.S. Military identification with photo – unexpired or expired no longer than 60 days at the time of voting

U.S. Citizenship Certificate or Certificate of Naturalization with photo

To apply for an EIC, applicants must visit one of the locations listed above and complete an application for a Texas Election Identification Certificate (DL-14C).  (For the Spanish language version of the EIC application, see http://www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/forms/DL-14CS.pdf).

To qualify for an EIC, an applicant must:

Bring documentation to verify U.S. citizenship and Identity

Be eligible to vote in Texas (Bring a valid voter registration card or submit a voter registration application through the Texas Department of Public Safety)

Be a Texas resident

Be 17 years and 10 months or older

How can anyone think voter ID is unfair to any individual or group? Think of what an id is needed  to cash a check, for employment, to get on an airplane, and even to visit the Whitehouse in Washington DC.

The hypocrisy of the democrats needs to be revealed for everyone to see that our elections can be fair. It is unfair to allow any possibilities of election fraud in our country. Election frauds skew the election results against the wishes of the voters.

Get involved in your community and government.

07/21/2014       Aliens Running for the Boarder!

I am sure you have heard of the influx of illegal children entering our country in the last few weeks from Central and South America.

In order to understand the issue we (Advocate Citizen) wanted to examine the root cause or causes of the influx, so we did.

In 2008 Congress passed and George Bush signed into law the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act which was originally pushed by a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers as well as by evangelical groups to combat sex trafficking, the bill gave substantial new protections to children entering the country alone who were not from Mexico or Canada by prohibiting them from being quickly sent back to their country of origin.
Soon after the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act was in place, President Obama enacted the DREAM Act by initiating the Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors.
You may be wondering what does this mean to the current illegal immigration problem here in the USA and how does that effect the American Citizen?  Simple. Bush signed into law an act that allowed some illegal immigrant children to stay in the US longer without parents and Obama enacted the DREAM Act to then education them and developing them…so central Americans started sending the kids off by the boat load. In short they are given- Free sheltering, Food protection, and if they stay longer they are given education and development- all of these are footed by the tax payer.

The proof-

According the US Customs and Borer patrol statistics there was 106 %
increases in the number of illegal children aged 0-17 years old from 2013 to 2014 thus far. In 2013, at the southwest border, there were 27,884 apprehensions, and so far in 2014 more than 57,000.
According to US Senator Ted Cruz of Texas “We are witnessing a
humanitarian crisis unfolding that is the direct consequence of
President Obama’s lawlessness,” Sen. Cruz said. “We just toured this Air Force facility, where up to 1,200 children are being cared for… but they have come through harrowing circumstances.”

These illegal children don’t all bring the desire to learn our culture language and customs. They bring disease and potential crime problems with many being part of gangs such as MS 13.
The 1 million dollar question is how will we solve the issue that
benefits the USA and not the illegals?
Well that will be debated in the US Congress as they debate the giving of humanitarian aid and scare tactics to solve the so called border crises. What will that cost? Well currently. President Obama is asking for 3.7 billion of our tax dollars.
Texas Governor Rick Perry is working on solutions to the border crisis. He will be sending 1,000 National Guard troops to help secure the border since the federal government has failed to secure our border.
In the solution is it imperative that we the voters let our elected officials know some ideas and solutions. This issue has become a crisis for lack of enforcement of our current immigration laws and through executive order of the part of the Dream Act.

I leave you with a last thought- not all illegal aliens running to our boarders come to the US to prosper we have enemies that now know our boarders are not secure.
Get involved let your voice be heard!

6/5/2014     Google is Bowe Bergdahl a hero or?

In a press conference about the release of SGT Bowe Bergdahl questions arose if he was really captured or if he desert his team as suggested by platoon members Gerald Sutton, Josh Korder in a CNN interview ( see link below)

State Department Spokeswoman Marie Harf suggested that internet search engine Google has

Conflicting reports, but the case is still being investigated.   Ms. Harf, are you saying that our government intelligence (US ARMY intelligence), trusts Google for military intelligence? Is the US government now saying that Google has access to military files and can interview solders at will? I think we both know the answer to that question. Emphatically no.

It is also important to note this case has been ongoing for 5 years. It is also important to point out that fellow platoon soldiers risked their life in the efforts to find SGt Bergdahl when he went missing.

One question remains unanswered: Why did our government release 5 Taliban members in exchange for Sgt Bergdahl? It may be easier to answer, ‘Who assassinated JFK don’t you think?

President Obama made no apologies for the trade. He probably learned of the events on MSNBC’s nightly program. Maybe he and all government spokes people will refer us to Google for the answers.

5/09/2014         Don’t Mess With Texas When It Comes To Business

The Lone Star state still remains the best state for business according to a survey of over 500 CEO’s.

How does Texas remain on the top? Is it magic or just good capitalism? Advocate citizen believes it’s the latter of the two.

Texas has limited regulations, and low taxes and that helps create more jobs than all other states combined.

Conversely, New York, a state with high regulations, and very high taxes ranks amongst the

worst alongside of California. The democrats control both New York and California. The

democratic ideology brings higher taxes and burdensome regulations that impede small business success.

Tired of high taxes and regulations make sure to get involved and vote in 2014. All is well in Texas.

US Senate candidate Chris Mapp

Advocate citizen interviewed  Chris Mapp on his candidacy for US Senate here in Texas . Chris Mapp is not a career politician, and he values his family, business and his county.

Chris Mapp has owned Costal Bend Marine for the past 16 years and lives with his wife and children in Port O’Connor, Texas. Chris certainly understands that we need to run our country as a business and can’t keep going into debt. He is frustrated with Senator John Cornyn on debt ceiling vote, and on Obamncare.

On Immigration Chris believes we have to secure our southern border with Mexico in order to control who comes in and secondly, he does not support any kind of amnesty.

On Obamcare Chris is opposed to and believes we can do a full repeal.

We closed the interview on the issue of lobbyist and how to keep politicians honest. He believes there is so much money in Washington DC that temptations are there for any politicians, but it’s the person’s values and integrity that keep them honest.

Advocate Citizen does not endorse political candidates however, in our opinion Chris Mapp is an honest man with business experience that would help him serve the office.

For more information about and to contact Chris Mapp visit his web site mappforussenate.com.

1/29/14   Another Executive Order
During his State of the Union speech last night 1/28/14 President Obama intimidated congress with raising the minimum wage for federal contract workers through an executive order.
Currently, federal law says most workers will earn at least the minimum wage of $7.25 but r the president’s order would ensure no federal contractor earns less than $10.10 per hour.
However, President Obama will have opposition in congress from Speaker of the House and other republicans.
“This idea that he’s just going to go it alone, I have to remind him we do have a constitution. And the Congress writes the laws, and the President’s job is to execute the laws faithfully. And if he tries to ignore this he’s going to run into a brick wall,” Speaker of The House John Boehner.
Surprisingly, Advocate citizen discovered that executive orders are not limited to just President Obama. Every president dating back to Herbert Hoover has issued executive orders. However, it is clear that President Obama has used more frequently on his agenda for issues that cannot pass through congress. For example using Affordable care Act for abortion restrictions, concealing records of the president, etc…
the operations of the Federal Government.

According Executive orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President of the United States manages to National Archives here is a short list of some of past presidents and how many executive orders they issued under their presidency.

12/05/2013   Fifteen Dollar Burger Bust

Today’s fast food burger protest failed in Houston TX.  Nationwide burger flippers protested of unfair wages and demanded 15.00 an hour, but in Houston the protest achieved nothing.  Flop.

Advocate citizen visited the Houston McDonalds on Kirby Drive a few blocks south of the Freeway at 1245 PM and saw only a few protesters and Univision.  According to the restaurants management the protest began at 12 noon with hand full of protestors who quit in less than an hour.

More customer where eating inside than people were protesting today. Advocate citizen paid tribute to the success of the owners, who took a financial risk exceeding $200,000 to open the restaurant in the first place. If these owners did not open the restaurant – there would be no jobs in the first place. Simple economics tells reasonable prudent people if you are not happy with your job – get more training or  more education in order to change careers.  No one is going to pay 12.00 for a happy meal so you can get 15.00 an hour.

Just as important to note that the Burger King and the Wendy’s down the street did not have any protesters today.

In addition Advocate citizen contacted Low Pay is Not Ok, an organization that lead the protest across the country, but as expected have not hard back to date.

Continue to visit the fast food restaurants to safe guard the owners if their investment. . let’s put this foolishness of $15 for burger flipper to rest.

Richmond County Board of Education

864 Broad Street – Augusta, Georgia 30901 – Phone: (706) 826-1000

Frank G. Roberson, Ph.D. Venus Cain

Superintendent of Schools President of School Board

Richmond County School System Richmond County School System

For More Information Contact Mr. Carl T. Spivey

(AUGUSTA, GEORGIA) – Over the past several days, school officials and elected Board members have received various inquiries and comments from members of the public and media relating to a recent occurrence at McBean Elementary School. Most of the inquiries were welcomed and appropriate. A few, however, were asinine, raised irrational points and are not factually consistent with the actual circumstances.

When the School System responds to public inquiries, it must be mindful of the privacy rights of parents and students. Often, the School System is aware of facts that provide substantial justification for the decision of the school official, but, cannot comment on the specific facts or circumstances of the incident or facts learned during the School System’s investigation.

In this instance, a parent, who was also a volunteer on occasion at McBean Elementary School, was observed several times wondering the halls of the school, making unauthorized visits and being in unauthorized places. To ensure a wholesome and safe school as well as address security concerns, the board has written guidelines for visitors. While the School System values and welcomes parents and visitors to the campus, it is a routine requirement that visitors sign in, abide by the general rules of the school, and refrain from disrupting the educational environment.

When the principal addressed these concerns with the parent, the parent made several inappropriate comments. Later, it was learned that the parent had posted online a copy of her permit to carry a concealed weapon. “Learning Today…Leading Tomorrow”

The Mission of the Richmond County School System is to educate students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.

To be proactive, the Systems Public Safety officials met with the parent. Following the meeting, including the receipt of additional information received from the parent, Public Safety advised the school and notified the parent that, going forward, she would follow a protocol in which she would receive advance permission from the school principal to be inside the school building and that the access points and destinations should be defined in advance.

The parent concurred with this revised process and stated that a zone exception would eliminate the need to return to McBean Elementary School; in any event, she agreed to comply with the protocol.

The parent did request and received a zone variance to allow her child to attend another school.

The principal was rightfully concerned about some comments made by the parent and by a posting on the internet. However, from the parent’s perspective, the transfer fully resolved the matter.

The System has received several emails, mainly from out of state addresses, concerning the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms; however, such concerns are not relevant to the facts of this case.

The actions by the School principal were consistent with the position of the System to assure that children are protected, to monitor access to school sites, and to predetermine visitor destinations.

10/04/2013   Confusion on campus

Advcatecitizen.com. Contacted Entz Elementary School in Mesa, Arizona in response to the story about how a father of was told not to wear his police uniform or bring his gun on to  campus after he picked up his daughter.

I spoke with Hellen Hollands the Director of Communications for Mesa Public Schools, and found out the following:

1. Officer  Scott Urkov was in full SWATT gear with a gun when he came to school for his daughter, The children did not recognize the uniform and told their parent a man was at school with a gun.  Many parents called the school asking about the man with a gun.  It was never reported that Officer Urkov came to school in full SWAT gear, and not just a traditional police officers uniform.

2.  In response to the parents calls the principle called  Officer Scott Urkov to discuss options such as: not wearing uniform to school or no gun, or covering up the uniform. According to Hellen Hollands the conversation had pleasant tones .

3. Later the principal realized it si wrong to  ask him not to be able to wear his uniform so he called back officer Scott Urkov ,and asked if he would come to school for an assembly to meet the students later this month.

4. In a addition officer Scot Urkov posted on Facebook, but someone else took the post and altered the media.

It appears to be a case or miss information from the main street media in Mesa, Arizona.  The officer and school have come to resolution and police officers are always welcomed at the school.  It seems sometimes by leaving out small details the story becomes misunderstood.

9/24/13   It’s In Our Hands America

The defunding of Obamcare now sits in the US Senate after passing the House of Representatives last week. The bill funds the entire government except for Obamcare.  The fight is far form over as the democratic controlled senate is trying to fund Obamcare.

Please call your senators and ask them to defund Obamcare, and vote against Senator Harry Reid’s procedural tactic of cloture. Cloture is the process in which the democrats will only need 50 votes to fund Obamcare instead of 60. So far only 4 republican Senators support cloture   Red Alert Kentucky and Texas!!!! This is especially important because Senator Mitch McConnell, and Senator John Cornyn are going to vote with Harry Reid on the cloture vote.  These senate seats are up for re- election in 2014.

Take Action! Call your Senators today! Simply say I support Senator——— voting against cloture.  The alternative is the destruction of our health care system, as we know it .

Community Involvement 08/22/2013
Advocate citizen believes that community involvement is
crucial in having a productive, safe, and happy community. We attended the Modern Day Slavery meeting in Houston. The meeting was hosted by Congressman Ted Poe ( TX), and guest speakers State Rep Sarah Davis, Harris County Sherriff Adrian Garcia, Cheryl Briggs from Serenity Ranch, Victoria Pierce from Stripped Ministries, Maria Trujillo Houston Rescue, and Dr Robert Sanborn from Children at Risk. An extra special thanks goes out to Cheryl Briggs, Victoria Pierce who where victims of sexual trafficking. We admire their courage to overcome such a terrible tragedy. Today they help victims.

It was a very informative discussion that centered on the issue of sexual trafficking of not only adults, but children as well. The discussion in formed us of the international sex trafficking issue and the domestic issue as well. Houston, because of its proximity to the Mexican border, is a hub for sex slave traffickers.

If you see something that is not right, report it! If you see someone, bringing children home repeatedly that are not his or hers and then they are never seen again- report it.
If you see women working in back rooms with very little lighting, board up windows and very little access-report it.

Listed below are some organizations to get more information
and to get involved. One point is clear- this is not just a law enforcement
issue. Communities need to get involved to report information to law

8/2/2013 Where are the Republicans on Obamacare?

There are now 13 senators who have signed the letter circulated by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) pledging to oppose Obamacare funding.

* Mike Lee (R-UT)

* Ted Cruz (R-TX)

* Rand Paul (R-KY)

* Marco Rubio (R-FL)

* Deb Fischer (R-NE)

* Jim Risch (R-ID)

* Jim Inhofe (R-OK)

* David Vitter (R-LA)

* Chuck Grassley (R-IA)

* Jeff Chiesa (R-NJ)

* John Thune (R-SD)

* Mike Enzi (R-WY)

* Mike Crapo (R-ID)

If you do not see your senators’ name, they have not pledged to stop funding of Obamcare in September. In September there will the last chance to stop Obamcare or at least delay.

Approve the government budget funding except for Obamacare.

In order to pass it would need 41 votes in the senate or 218 votes in the house.

Shame on all the other republican senators who claim to be opposed to Obamcare but will not support defunding, what kind of double talk that?

That includes Senator John Cornyn of Texas, Senator John Mccain (AZ), Senator Lindsey Graham (SC), Senator Jeff Sessions (AL), and Mitch McConnell. (KY).

Advocatecitizen urges you to call your senator and demand they defund Obamcare.

Now these non supporting republicans, Harry Reid, and President Obama will claim that by defunding will shut down the government. However, as we saw under President Bill Clinton in 1996 only non-essential services would be shutdown. The world did not come to an end.

The challenge is up to us the voters at the grass root level to stop the funding.

You want to get involved and make a difference.

Congress will be on vacation in August for 4- 5 week and many will meet with constituents in your area through town hall meetings. This is a great opportunity to voice that defunding must pass.

Visit www.senate.gov to get your senators name and number.

7/30/2013 What’s Phony Mr. President ?

Hard to believe in a speech on 7/24/13 President Obama said,
“Republicans are trying to distract America from its economic problems by pushing “phony scandals,” President Obama continued by saying “with an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball.”
Let us examine
these statements and see what the truth is.
What phony scandals are you referring to President Obama? Fast and Furious, Black
Panthers intimidating voters, Benghazi, IRS, NSA……?
Tell Former ambassador Stephens family and the others in the US
Embassy In Libya that their deaths are phony. Tell their families that all
request where denied for more security with no explanation or
any attempt to get the truth.
Tell the hundreds of individuals and groups that where investigated by IRS
just because they where Tea Party with conservative ideas that your against phony
The things you call distractions are serious issue that show government has breached
its power and we are at risk of tyranny or a monarch once again.
See the video for
your self. :

What are you going to do?
Never forget to think for yourself! Think about who and what the phony scandal is.

Stay .informed.

7/30/2013 Is your Senator going to stand up
and defund Obamacare or are they going hand out more cash?

Thanks to Senator Mike Lee (UT),Senator Ted Cruz (TX) we may have a chance to defund Obamacare.

Here is the link to the letter that
was sent to Senator Harry Reid by Senator Mike Lee and Senator Ted Cruz.

Please visit defundobaamcare.com
see if your senators are in support of defunding.

Please call your senators to
support this defunding effort. Do not be fooled by any talk of government
shutdown. Social security checks will still be received; military will be paid. All essential services will continue. We had a government shut down during the President Bill Clinton presidency and Armageddon did not occur.

Here is your chance to get involved in our government. Call your government and stay engaged. Zip up your wallets.

On Monday 6/3/2013 the US Supreme Court ruled in Maryland VS King -that law enforcement can swab an individuals mouth once arrested in order to solve help solve past crimes. The Supreme Court’s majority decided that DNA testing is much like fingerprinting, which has long been considered a routine part of the arrest process because it helps authorities verify the identity of a suspected criminal.
Justice Anthony Kennedy—joined by John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Stephen Breyer—wrote that police do not need a warrant to obtain a DNA sample because it is a “legitimate police booking procedure” that simply helps authorities determine the identify of their suspect and find Twenty-eight states and the federal government now take DNA swabs after arrests. But a Maryland court was one of the first to say that it was illegal for that state to take Alonzo King’s DNA without approval from a judge, saying King had “a sufficiently weighty and reasonable expectation of privacy against warrantless, suspicion less searches” under the Fourth Amendment he or she has been convicted of committing other crimes. In the 5 to 4 decision Justice Kennedy in his majority opinion wrote “The use of DNA for identification is no different than matching an arrestee’s face to a wanted poster of a previously unidentified suspect; or matching tattoos to known gang symbols to reveal a criminal affiliation; or matching the arrestee’s fingerprints to those recovered from a crime scene,” Kennedy said. “DNA is another metric of identification used to connect the arrestee with his or her public persona, as reflected in records of his or her actions that are available to police.”Justice Scalia in his descending opinion wrote that it violated a core Fourth Amendment principle and that police may not conduct a search unless there are reasons to believe that evidence will be found. Solving unsolved crimes is a noble objective, but it occupies a lower place in the American pantheon of noble objectives than the protection of our people from suspicion less law-enforcement searches. The Fourth Amendment must prevail.
Now I certainly realize that most of you are saying but Mr. Advocate Citizen this does not concern me since I am an honest productive citizen and I do not get arrested. The key is to realize that slowly our constitutional rights are eroding, and in time, the government will hold all the power.Benjamin Franklin said it best when he said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”. Here is how the fourth amendment reads Amendment IV, ” he right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Solving unsolved crimes is a noble objective, but the protection of the fourth amendment must prevail. Advocate Citizen.com

Underthe Radar 5/22/2013

Sarah Hall Ingram was the Director of Tax-Exempt Division of the IRS until the

scandal broke a week ago about IRS targeting conservative groups for political
purposes (http://theweek.com/article/index/244369/the-irs-scandal-is-sarah-hall-ingram-the-next-head-to-roll).
As congress has hearings to investigate what happened at the IRS Joseph Grant,
acting Director of Tax-Exempt takes the heat as Ms. Ingram seems to fly under
the radar.
In fact, MS Ingram is now Director of the Affordable Care Act ( Obama Care)a division of the IRS. I am serious. Is this who we need watching our health records
as Obama Care goes into full force in January 2014? Is there a reason why she
will not target groups again? What is the reason? She is getting off scott free
We implore you to continue to put

No to the quilt 5/03/2013

Students from Piedmont Governor’s School where harshly interrupted by City councilwoman Sharon

Brooks-Hodge during their quilt presentation to the city of Martinsville, Virginal- last week.

The quilt’s black figure offended the councilwoman and she harshly questioned the students and

suggested that quilt not be hung. The students, who where between the ages 13-16,

replied that the figure’s colors did not represent skin color or any ethnicity. The questions resulted in bringing a student to tears.

Was the city councilwoman too harsh on the students?

Was her public interrogation of teenagers appropriate?

Should the constituents of the councilwoman hold her accountable?

Advocate citizen contacted the councilwoman and the school via email and by phone to get a comment.

However, we have not heard back from the councilwoman, and the school simply said no comment.

Watch the video below to see the actual presentation.

Many Americans are unaware of the partnershipbetween the USDA and Mexico. Thank you Judicial Watch for exposing the SNAP link.

The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) who runs the SNAP program (food stamp program) is issuing fliers to educate the Mexican people to take advantage of the food stamp program here in the US . The flyers do not mention the lack of immigration status. The flier says in bold letters,” You don’thave to divulge information regarding your immigrations status in seeking benefit for you r children.” See the flier at this linkhttp://www.scribd.com/doc/137989529/No-Need-to-Declare-Status

On March 15.2013 during the budget debate; the democrats, in the senate, blocked any thoughts of ending this program with Mexico.According to USDA statistics the number of illegal immigrants receiving food stamps has grown from 425,000 in 2001 to over 1.6 million in 2012.

The bottom line is we the tax payers are paying for food stamps for non US residents and our congress does not plan on stopping this practice any time soon.

Call your senators and congressman and demand this program to be cut out of our budget. The congress has not passed a budget yet in 2013.

The future of the program is in our hands. So what are you going to do?

Are you Crazy ? 4/24/2013

Recently a fellow American asked us at Advocate to investigate a letter she was sent… read below

What do you think we found out? Stay tuned. We are bring down the house on this one….

Is the government better than Houdini?

Harry Houdini is revered as the best magician of all times however, our government, in particular the
democrats, have mastered the powers of hocus pocusing their messaging. This sleight
of hand can be seen in several examples of their messaging.

1. The most current example is with the Boston Marathon bombing, the democrats even brought into the conversation the sequester will hinder the investigation by the feds and local authorities.

Rep. Xavier Becerra of California, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said that the first responders working Monday aren’t sheltered from cuts.

“We have to send you less money to help your first responders,” Becerra said.

2. November 2012 remember in the fake war on woman was attacking the republicans for their inability not to pay for birth control. This was media frenzy with the testimony in front of a congressional panel by Sandra Fluke saying government should pay for birth control for woman.

3.Presidential campaign 2012 republican candidate Mitt
Romney accused of not paying his taxes by Senate Majority leader Harry
Reid. In addition, he was accused of not paying his fair share of taxes.
However, the flaw in this argument is that Mitt Romney similarly to the
Warren Buffet theory, raised by the democrats; Mitt Romney did not receive
income as an employee. He paid dividends in which taxes have already been
paid when he earned that income.

These are just few- of many examples that the democrats have successfully mastered trickery. What can you do about it? Blog about it, write
about it and speak about it.

Take the money and run ?

Former Illinois State Rep. Robin Kelly was sworn in today as the newest member of the house, taking over the seat held by money grabber Jesse Jackson Jr.

Jesse Jackson pleaded guilty in February to spending $750,000 in campaign money on personal expenses. I have a few concerns.
Where is the Washington on this? I have seen very little internet media advocating for the conviction of Jesse Jackson Jr. He is, by his own admission, a thief.
I believe there should be in investigation addressing the past 5 years of his campaign money handing expenses. He did not start out taking 750,000 from the tax payers that is where he ended.
We at Advocate Citizen request that you contact your state officials concerning this matter.

Farewell Iron Lady

Margaret Thatcher, Former Prime Minister of Great Britain, passed away on 4/7/20013. In her honor, we at Advocatecitizen.com want to share with you some videos in order to shed light on her stance against socialism. She was the first woman Prime Minister of Great Britain and she held office from 1975-1992 as a member of the Conservative Party. One of her greatest accomplishments was she helped President Ronald Reagan end the Cold War.

Take a moment to read more about her impact on our political history so you can understand our future.

To Salute Prime Minister Thatcher please sees links and quotes below. Her words and actions still make political sense today. Our current leaders could take a cue from her.

(On Who Got Credit For Ending The Cold War) “The role of Ronald Reagan had been deliberately diminished; the role of the Europeans, who, with the exception of Helmet Kohl, were often keen to undermine America when it mattered, had been sanitized; and the role of Mr. Gorbachev, who had failed spectacularly in his declared objective of saving communism and the Soviet Union, had been absurdly misunderstood.” — Margaret Thatcher

“It is always important in matters of high politics to know what you do not know. Those who think that they know, but are mistaken, and act upon their mistakes, are the most dangerous people

“It is in a country’s interests to keep faith with its allies. States in this sense are like people. If you have a reputation for exacting favors and not returning them, the favours dry up.” — Margaret Thatcher

No budget? No problem start printing cash America

The House of Representatives voted to pass the continuing resolution, and to put off passing a budget until September of 2013. It is disappointing to see the House of Representatives vote against the Senate’s Budget with- 35 democrats voting with the republicans.

What does this mean to you, the tax payers? No set budget means we have to listen to a last minute debate in September. Delaying the debate means more spending and higher taxes. Ink up the cash printing printers.

Here are simple and easy definitions of some key terms used when discussing the budget.

1.Revenue= more spending through higher taxes

2.Entitlements= free stuff

3.Debt=what we owe to other countries

4.Deficit= we spend more than we take in.

Memo to Senator Harry Reid I hope you can pass a budget in my life time. The last budget passed in the Senate was 2009.

Have you called your representatives? What are you waiting for?

The Grammy Goes to

Congratulations to United States Senator John Cornyn for winning the biggest hypocrite award.

After President Obama signed into the renewal of the Violence Against Woman Act the senator

released this statement,

“I’m pleased with the wide bipartisan support the SAFER Act received and with

the President’s signature today, law enforcement can begin working immediately to test outstanding

kits and see that justice is served.”

The law provides money to cities such as Houston, New York and so on- to process thousands of untested rape kits. Senator Cornyn ..quick reminder…you voted against voted against the bill.

Did you think we were not paying attention Senator? We know you are up for re -election in 2014.

Mayor of NYC, “You can’t take my big gulp!”

New York State Supreme Court Judge ruled Mayor Michael Bloomberg cannot impose his ban of sodas larger than 16 ounces in New York City’s restaurants, movies or delis.

Yes. Obesity is a problem for some Americans according to American Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA). Thirty five percent of adults were obese in USA in 2010 however, what gives any government the right to regulate what we drink or eat? If someone wants to sit around all day stuff in their face with Hostess Twinkies then so be it. Oops , sorry forgot liberal unions ran Hostess out of business. Let’s just say you want to stuff your face with donuts, no particular brand, should that not be our choice?Once government restricts our diets, what will be next?

Mayor Bloomberg you may take or limit our guns, but not our big gulps.
